Newall Measurement Systems Sets a New Performance Standard for DROs

DP900 MRO Newall

Newall Measurement Systems, part of the €12 billion Schneider Electric group, has launched its new DP900 digital readout (DRO) for manual lathe and mill applications. Designed to deliver unparalleled performance and a host of advanced functionality, the DP900 has been developed to increase machine tool efficiency in an easy to use package.

The DP900 is Newall’s most powerful DRO to date and features a number of unique product features including: white-on-blue LCD display; geometric functions with probe capabilities; graphical dynamic tool position display; and a feather-touch cap-sense keypad.

Sitting at the top of Newall’s range, interactive features on the DP900 include dynamic tool position display and four axis (linear and rotary) simultaneous readout. The DP900 also includes the ability to associate up to 20 jobs for each function, such as arc contouring, bolt hole (PCD), grid array and many more.

Another feature of this innovative unit is internal summing. This allows a mill operator to sum knee and quill axes within the display without the need for additional complexity or the expense of an external summing unit when using three of four-axis versions.

As well as a host of standard features found on most of the Newall DRO range, such as linear and segmented error compensation, mill/lathe selection, vectoring, tapering, tool offsets and axis preset, new features specific to the DP900 are centred around the new blue-on-white LCD display. These include a graphical dynamic tool position display, a zero approach graphical display with optional audio alert, a virtual keypad to allow user-defined job names and one touch HELP.

The DP900 is available in a number of different axis configurations, including two and three-axis, as well four-axis with a touch probe or three+one axis with probe (the fourth axis can be used with Newall’s Spherosyn encoder technology or for RS422 (TTL) linear/rotary feedback).

The DP900 can be used with Newall’s Spherosyn and Microsyn encoders with optional TTL 4th axes.
